Choosing your facial oil

Psst, we have a secret to tell you: facial oil is beneficial for all skin types. Not just dry skin, but also normal, combination, and oily skin.

Skincare oils actually meet our skin's purely physiological needs, including maintaining strong cohesion within the skin barrier cells. The fat content provided by oils is crucial in preventing small water leaks in the stratum corneum—and therefore dehydration and all the minor pro-aging issues that follow.

Through mimicry, fatty acids will thus help to fill the lipid gap in dry skin and, conversely, to limit the production of sebum in oily skin. In short, well-nourished skin is happier, more comfortable and balanced on the surface.

A quick note of terminology: don't be fooled by the "serum" label on some products. All the products in this selection are indeed oil-based! And unlike true serums (i.e., aqueous serums), they are not applied under the cream, but on top of it to delay its natural evaporation. If you prefer, most of them can also be mixed directly into your cream, adding 1 to 3 drops, to enhance its emollient effects.

#1 I choose my facial oil according to its texture

Do you think an oil is necessarily greasy? That it will leave your skin shiny like a frying pan? That it will make your makeup run? Rest assured: it's completely false.

Depending on their composition, some oils have a more penetrating feel than others. They will therefore leave a silky finish, a very thin, almost imperceptible protective film on the skin. Since many of us prefer the sensoriality of dry oils, even highly nourishing formulas designed for dry skin now offer a very low-oily feel.

Remember that this shiny effect that we sometimes dread also depends on the dosage. For some skin types, two drops of oil will be more than enough... while others, more demanding, will tolerate triple the amount (six drops) without ever shining throughout the day.

I prefer dry textures

A single ingredient: squalane from olives, which has a composition very similar to sebum with a featherweight, evanescent finish.

Ideal for: combination to oily skin.

The +: also great on the ends of the hair to nourish them without making them greasy.

I prefer rich textures

Rich without leaving a greasy finish, it infuses the skin with a cocktail of Hawaiian active ingredients with plumping, nourishing and restorative effects.

Ideal for: dry skin and mature skin.

The +: its exotic citrus and vanilla fragrance, joyful and addictive!

I am a follower of the happy medium.

Neither too light nor too heavy, enveloping yet quickly absorbed, this is the oil that ticks all the boxes for the undecided.

Ideal for: sensitive skin.

The +: its unique regenerating cocktail based on beech buds and birch sap.

#2 I choose my facial oil according to my beauty concerns

Oils aren't just fatty acids. They also contain numerous active substances (vitamins, polyphenols, ceramides, etc.) that have a real impact on the quality of our skin.

It's no surprise, then, that these precious plant oils can target our minor skin concerns throughout our skin's life. Rosehip oil, for example, contains vitamins A, D, and E, making it a remarkable ally against wrinkles and spots. Carrot oil (or more precisely, Carrot macerate), for its part, is rich in beta-carotene: it brightens the complexion, activates tanning, and promotes the regeneration of epidermal tissue.

The secret? Choose exclusively cold-pressed botanical oils, organic if possible. This guarantees a higher concentration of active ingredients and optimal interaction with your skin.

I have brown spots

Like a fruity nail polish that completes your most beautiful glow. Enriched with acai berry and bisabolol, it gently lightens dark spots.

Ideal for: illuminating and evening out your complexion without any occlusive or photosensitizing effect.

The +: its exquisite sensoriality, enhanced by a vitamin-rich synergy based on red mandarin.

I have imperfections

An oil containing 13 active ingredients to nourish, purify and illuminate the skin while you sleep – with a fluid texture without a greasy effect.

Ideal for: fighting blackheads, whiteheads and shine from adolescence onwards.

The +: its relaxing lavender scent, to help you fall asleep.

My skin feels tight

A concentrate of essential fatty acids (omega-6, omega-9) which works from the first drops to improve the comfort and elasticity of the skin.

Ideal for: pampering an altered skin barrier (dryness, irritation, redness, etc.).

The +: no essential oils, just vegetable oils and vitamin E.

I have wrinkles

Exceptional for the premium quality of its active ingredients, it combines rosehip with ylang-ylang to revitalize faded skin.

Ideal for: supporting collagen synthesis and plumping the relief of fine lines and wrinkles.

The +: so concentrated that a very small amount is enough for each use!

I have a dull complexion

A little beta-carotene bomb! 1 to 2 drops are enough to give you a healthy glow while limiting the damage caused by oxidative stress.

Ideal for: enhancing your complexion (pale or tanned) throughout the summer.

The +: its 100% natural formula based on anti-aging argan oil.

#3 I choose my facial oil according to its active ingredients

No mineral oils at Happy Officine! Our catalog includes only facial oils formulated with vegetable oils, which are much better for your skin.

And within this large family of vegetable oils, some stand out as true benchmarks. If you've already tried them, perhaps you already swear by them. Among those that everyone agrees on is jojoba, for example. It has the particularity of mimicking the sebum secreted by our sebaceous glands, which makes it highly biocompatible with our skin barrier.

Don't be afraid to think outside the box and experiment with lesser-known oils or blends. Everyone's skin reacts differently, so your best friend's favorite oil won't necessarily be your go-to. And that's completely normal.

I want jojoba oil

A light, non-comedogenic base of jojoba oil, infused with around twenty sun-kissed active ingredients to brighten the complexion.

Ideal for: dull complexions and combination skin.

The +: a remarkably complete blend, also perfect against pimple scars.

I want black seed oil

Ultra-targeted and ultra-concentrated, this blend combines black seed oil and cajuput essential oil in a highly purifying synergy.

Ideal for: skin with stubborn imperfections.

The +: easy to use, it simply mixes with your moisturizer.

I want sweet almond oil

Sweet almond, but also flax, hemp and borage: rare lipid extracts, full of restorative properties.

Ideal for: dry skin and skin showing the first signs of aging.

The +: multi-use, it can also be applied to hair to enhance it with sensuality.
